A BIKER has been charged with causing the death of a three-year-old girl by dangerous driving, the Daily Echo can reveal.
Stephen Moon, of Sopwith Road, Eastleigh, was arrested after t he crash, close to the Tall Ship fish and chip shop.
The 38-year-old answered bail this week and has now been charged.
He will appear before magistrates in Southampton later this month.
Billie was crossing Hamble Lane with her family when she was involved in the accident with Moon’s blue Honda CBF 600 motorbike.
Desperate attempts were made to try to resuscitate the youngster after the crash, but she died shortly afterwards at Southampton General Hospital.
Eyewitnesses to the accident described the “chaos” after the crash as dozens of motorists gathered around the little girl.
Dental nurse Shelley Clifford later told how she battled in vain to resuscitate the youngster.
No one else was injured in the accident, which happened about 100 yards away from a pedestrian crossing.
