Hampshire police investigating group fight in Thornhill area of Southampton

Man stabbed in street fight Man stabbed in street fight

A MAN has been stabbed in the leg during a fight in a Southampton street.

Police are appealing for witnesses after a large group of men were involved in a “melee” in the Bursledon Road and Lydgate Road area of the city last night.

When officers arrived at around 10.30pm they found a 31-year-old man with a wound to his leg.

DC Chris Moss said: “This is a nasty assault and one that could have potentially been fatal.

“At present we believe this to be an isolated incident, however I’d like to remind the public to be vigilant.

“We believe there may have been a lot of vehicles driving past as it is believed this incident ended up in the middle of Bursledon Road and we would like to hear if you have seen anything, no matter how insignificant you think this may be.”

One of the men in the group was in a hooded red jacket with white sleeves aged between 16 and 18, while another was wearing a stripy jumper.

Two boys, 13 and 16, were arrested on suspicion of GBH with intent and have now been bailed until September 26, pending further enquiries.

Anyone with information should call DC Moss at Bitterne CID on 101 or the anonymous Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.

It's a pity that you never had a look around the rest of the Estate. People like you only go by what you hear and not what you see. Get your facts right before masaking inane remarks.

Christ the imbecile's are out in force again. (And I don't mean the skanks involved in the fight) I mean the sad faceless ignorant old ****'s who spend their retirement on here. Everywhere has its problems not just council estates.

See what I mean about predictable. Yes of course its nicked I wouldn't want to spend any of my £75k salary would I? I'm a scientist and my rent is £350 pcm including heating charge! I love my life thanks. Have a great pension, small council tax bill, outstanding ofsted reported schools for my children and I get all my repairs done for nothing! Oh and I own a Jaguar XF (kept in my £7.50 per week garage) insurance is quite manageable because of this. Life is very sweet for me. Can you say the same?

Then use some of your £75k salary to get yourself a mortgage and free up your council accommodation for a struggling family that really need it. Or does it not bother you that some families are homeless due to lack of social housing?

DANGO read between the lines will you? If you really can't see what I'm getting at then you really shouldn't be joining an adult debate. Think about it - people love to jump on the 'council = stupid, skank on benefits'

No actually are rents are cheaper than most. Therefore we have a massive disposable income from our child benefit for our ten kids, its great being paid mega bucks to watch tv :)

Jesus once said "love thy neighbour" I bet he didn't live on a council estate.
Anyone who says they want to live on a council estate where people cant even be bothered to walk stood up straight is lying I'm afraid.

The Spelling and Grammar Police are here to help, not to criticise, we supply our services free of charge, if you went to Kip McGrath for the same education, it would cost you £28-00 for 80 minutes.

Nobody on here probably gives a hoot. Would that be because shrews are rarer, or are they harder to catch?
