A FORMER children's home worker in Southampton has been jailed for abusing a teenage boy in his care.

Eamound Tallon, 53, was sent to prison for 14 months after pleading guilty to two charges of indecently assaulting the youth.

The crimes took place more than 20 years ago, when Tallon worked at the Thorold Road Children's Home in Bitterne .

Police were alerted when the victim, who is now in his 30s, called to make a complaint last year.

Tallon has since moved to York, where he was arrested by Hampshire officers last May.

PC Lucy Stewart, of Southampton's Public Protection Investigation Unit, said: “We always encourage victims of child abuse to report the crime , even if it happened years ago. This case proves that, no matter how many years have passed, Hampshire Constabulary will bring the offender to justice.”
