Why is this a running story for ? yes it's awful what has happened to this person but it's not a murder or anything.

It all happenes in Portswood, the attack happened in front of the Nat West ctt camara that covers the ATM cash point 24/7. so i think an arrest is imminent if the Police are on the ball...Regards to the victim i hope he makes a quick recovery.

There's more reporting of violence going on at the moment.

Seriously, that's it. No reason to think there's been a sudden increase in the amount of violence in the city, just because the Echo have reported more.

Nice one, you got your comment in to the main story updates.
Perhaps it stems from an overpopulated planet. Perhaps readers love a good violent story when it doesn't affect them, and so the local rag latches on to stories like this. Perhaps it's unusual, but simply coincidental, a point on the violent standard deviation chart at one of it's extremities. Perhaps it's related to the moon. Or perhaps we're all getting more and more mental, after some biological contamination 28 Days Later style. These thoughts/words are my own. Personally I find giving the missus a quick rabbit punch to the back of the head each day, keeps the violent streak in me away.

My guess would be provincial journalists with a new toy, far too eager to try it out.

Someone has just brought themselves a new iPad me thinks!! New toy? lol

Anyway, fun aside, I like the live story format and think it should be used more often when a reporter is on the scene. It gives us an insite into how a reporter works and how stories develop.

Thoughts are with the victim and I hope the person who did this is found.
