A HAMPSHIRE teenager is adjusting to life as a millionaire after discovering he scooped the Euro Millions prize while in his local pub.

The 19-year-old is one of 100 people to have won £1m each as part of the record-breaking Euro Millions Olympic Draw.

The youngster, who is understood to have only just left college, was in the Four Horseshoes pub in Nursling to watch the Olympic opening ceremony on Friday night.

During a lull in the coverage he checked his phone for the lottery result and found he had one of the winning tickets for the UK Millionaire Raffle.

Barman Nathan Neofytou said the teenager, who was at the pub with his mum and dad, was left stunned.

“He just said he thought he had won it, his mum came around and checked his phone and said it was true. He was just stunned, completely shocked. He couldn’t really say anything.”

The 19-year-old’s dad celebrated his son’s win by promptly buying everyone a round of drinks.

Nathan said the news added to what was already a memorable night with the start of the London 2012 Games.

“It was a great night, everyone had a great time. What a completely unbelievable thing to happen,” added Nathan.

By last night 79 of the 100 newly created millionaires had come forward to claim their prize, organisers confirmed.

A National Lottery spokesman said the draw attracted an unprecedented number of players with so many playing online that the website crashed.

He added: “In addition to creating so many overnight millionaires, the draw helped boost the £30m-plus raised for good causes every week.

“We urge all players to check their tickets to help us push this record even higher.

An estimated £123m will be paid out to players in the UK from Friday’s main draw but no one won the £110m jackpot, which has rolled over to tonight.

I would advise against spending it. Leave it all in a few good accessible accounts with different banks - as a permanent cushion throughout life. The interest alone will then provide about £20,000 every year, for life.

I would spend a load on sex and drugs and rock and roll and then waste the rest.

Nice to hear of more success in one of my local pubs. Over the years I've known of a pools winner (£1 million) a lottery jackpot winner (£3.2 million) a five ball and bonus winner (circa £170k) and now this. Might have to buy a ticket!
