A MAN is on the run after police raided a home in a quiet Southampton cul-de-sac that had been converted into a cannabis factory.

Officers found more than 200 drug plants in the house in Petworth Gardens, Lordshill.

An occupant of the property was thought to have escaped into nearby woodland around Lord’s Hill Way, and despite a thorough two-hour search operation involving police dogs, was not captured.

The first floor and loft of the house had been turned over to the manufacture of the Class B drug, a Hampshire police spokeswoman said.

Police visited the property shortly after 12.15pm yesterday, after receiving a tip off.

The landlord was called to the house as well as officials from the electricity board, to shut down the mains. The cannabis plants were removed.
