Another pony killed Another pony killed

ANOTHER New Forest pony has been killed on the roads.

A grey filly was badly injured in an accident at Main Road, East Boldre, and had to be put down by one of the agisters, who supervise the welfare of ponies and cattle in the Forest.

What is there to say except speed kills. In most cases of Forest animals being injured or killed speed is the major cause. The vehicle driver's insurance company in this case will be looking at a large compensation claim from the Commoners in lieu of their animal, something like £400 or more. Take notice of the speed restrictions which are painted on the road at regular intervals because hitting a pony, cow or deer can kill you and your passengers.

How do you know the driver in question wasn't sticking to the speed restrictions?
