P. D. JAMES, whose detective novels have sold in their millions throughout the world, is coming to Winchester .
At the University of Winchester, Baroness James of Holland Park will discuss what inspires her, how she came to write crime fiction and the process by which her characters are created. She will also explain the process of producing a book from the first idea until the manuscript is ready to be sent to the publishers.
Special guests on the night will be Simon Eden, chief executive of Winchester City Council , and Becky Bagnell of the Lindsay Literary Agency.
Hampshire Writing Society members and all students can attend for free, while non-members pay £5.
The evening begins at 7.30pm in The Stripe Building, Sparkford Road on Tuesday, September 11.
