Saints colours flying high on city tower block
They were already flying high following their return to the Premier League.
Now the colours of Southampton Football Club will take pride of place on top of one of the city’s tallest buildings.
The famous red and white stripes have been painted on the plant tank room, at the top of Millbrook Towers, in Windermere Avenue, to celebrate Saints’ return to English football’s top flight.
And Southampton legend, Matt Le Tissier, was on hand to reveal the new artwork, alongside residents of the Southampton estate.
The club’s signature colours were unveiled following the completion of a series of new murals, which have been put in place at the bottom of the 25-storey high rise.
Housing chiefs have been working in partnership with Balfour Beatty to bring a new lease of life to the estate, which also saw Saints hero turned TV pundit Matt, 43, talk to residents about how the council can further improve its relationship with the community.
Southampton’s housing boss, Cllr Warwick Payne, said: “This unveiling celebrates not only Southampton Football Club’s success but also the eye-catching artwork.
“This is a prime example of what can be achieved with everyone working together.”

If these are "The club’s signature colour" why are we not playing in them instead of the Liverpool Retro kit?

Would have been better to have waited until Saints were not at the bottom of the league and waiting to win their first point. This is just begging for comments from down the road.

Its a gimmick, thats all..it brought Matt Le Tissier to a community event in an area which has seen many improvements especially within the park, if the Council believe they are demonstrating support for SFC then that too is no bad thing..got to be better than wasting money on a referendum

Blue is the antithesis of Socialism, The White Army was known that because of the conscripts (Working Class) that was being sent to russia to fight with the Tzar army, Britian would of been one of those countrys if the army did not revolt on Southampton Common in 1919.
I all ways perfer the stripes also.

That wonderful modification atop this splendid building is akin to Harry Redknapp "helping out" Portsmuff- or was it Boremuff?
