Police are combing the south for a missing man from Northumberland, who has links to Hampshire.

Joseph Edwin Reid, 69, has not been seen since August 30, when he was spotted in Newcastle.

Mr Reid, from Blyth, who has links in Hampshire and Dorset, was reported missing on September 3.

Officers are becoming increasingly concerned for Mr Reid's safety, due to his age and the fact that he has not attempted to contact friends or family.

He is described as being 5ft 6ins tall, with blue eyes and of slim build.

He was last seen wearing a light coloured shirt, a black coat, dark trousers and black or brown shoes.

He was also carrying a brightly coloured shopping bag.

Police are carrying out a number of enquiries and have now urged Hampshire residents to look out for the man.

Anyone with information should contact Northumbria police on 101, using the extension number 69191.
