A TOUCH of pomp and circumstance from the Last Night of the Proms came to Sherfield-on-Loddon.
More than 100 people dressed in red, white and blue packed out the village hall for the evening of entertainment on Saturday.
Local performers raised the rafters in the hall, which was decorated with bunting, balloons and floral arrangements, before all the action live from the Royal Albert Hall in London was screened during the second half. Professional singer Lauren Eleanor Newman, from Basingstoke, and villagers Gordon and Julie Sutton performed opera, classics and show tunes.
The sell-out evening was held to raise money for the village hall and was put on by The Friends of Sherfield Village Hall.
Alan Ball, chairman of the charity, said: βIt was fantastic to see the work put in by the community volunteers being repaid by the sheer volume and exuberance of the Sherfield-on-Loddon promenaders.β
