A Southampton woman, who breached a restraining order banning her from seeing her former boy friend, has been spared prison.

Dawn Cornford, 31, of Oxford Street, had been given a 25-week suspended sentence in January for wounding Christopher O’Reilly but a judge heard he later contacted her and they met.

David Storey, defending, said their lengthy relationship had a history of violence and she had committed the offence while at the end of her tether.

“She still has feelings for him, she still loves him but knows it is a relationship that won’t work and would be doomed to failure.”

Passing sentence at Southampton Crown Court sitting at Winchester , Judge Jane Miller QC said Cornford had complied with the rest of the order and ordered her to attend six sessions of a probation service run specific activity requirement which would tackle her drinking.
