A £44,000 upgrade of the gas network in a Hampshire town is due to get under way within two weeks.
Southern Gas Networks wants to replace the existing metal gas mains and services in Kiln Road, Fareham and replace them with modern plastic pipes.
Work will begin on October 1 and could take up to six weeks with temporary two-way traffic lights installed in and around the area.
Company bosses have apologised in advance for disruption caused by the works, but added that the new pipes had a minimum life-span of 80 years.
