AN INTERNET stalker who preyed upon his Southampton girlfriend was back behind bars - this time for harassing two teenage girls.

For three years Ruth Jeffery had been plagued online not knowing it was her own boyfriend who had been posting images of her to adult websites.

Shane Webber was sentenced to four months in jail but within days of his release in January this year the 23-year-old committed a string of online sexual offences on two 15-year-old girls.

Miss Jeffery was at Nottingham Crown Court to hear her ex-boyfriend sentenced to three years in jail after he admitted causing or inciting a female under 16 to engage in sexual activity making indecent photos and two counts of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child.

He was only arrested after he persuaded one of the girls to run away with him via MSN Messenger.

Miss Jeffery turned to anti-depressants and dropped out of a computer science degree course at the University of Southampton during a three-year campaign by Webber.

Webber, from Nottingham, set up multiple fake email addresses and used them to contact Ruth pretending to be former schoolmates before bombarding her with explicit images and videos.

She had turned to her boyfriend of three-and-a-half years for consolation not knowing he was the man making her life hell.

Speaking at the time of his sentencing in October, Miss Jeffery said: “I was absolutely devastated when I found out it was him. I could not believe it was Shane. I did not want to believe it.”
