Sites across Fareham have been earmarked for up to 1,000 new homes.

Fareham Borough Council has published its Draft Local Plan, which include proposals for the area for the next 14 years.

The homes will be built on 24 sites across the borough – ranging from eight-home developments to more than 240 homes.

The sites earmarked for development are in addition to a new town set to be built north of Fareham, which will include around 7,000 new houses, with work expected to start in 2015.

The largest developments in the plan are at Peter’s Road in Locks Heath – where up to 241 homes could be built – and Fareham town centre, where there could be between 140 and 354 new homes built.

The plan also includes policies to “protect and enhance” the natural environment, which will be used when future decision are made about planning applications.
