Benefits to be slashed in Fareham

Town to slash housing benefit Town to slash housing benefit

THE total spent on council tax benefit in Fareham is due to be cut by ten per cent.

The council is being given responsibility for giving out the tax relief from the Government. £4.3m was spent on the benefit last year. From April 2013 that figure will be cut.

Council leader Sean Woodward said: “If the council does not make these proposed changes it may mean that there is less money to spend on providing services.”

A consultation on the changes is taking place until Friday, November 30.

Which is it Daily Echo, housing benefit or council tax benefit? I mean, the title says housing but the article says tax.
