CHILDREN and young people in Winchester and Test Valley are among those to benefit from Hampshire County Council grants.
In central Hampshire, £4,875 has been given to Romsey and District Young Carers’ Project and £7,580 to the Test Valley North Detached Service, which will help fund the Fusion Project in Andover – a youth project run by volunteers.
A further £3,741 has been awarded to Winchester Youth Counselling to help fund a counselling project for 11 to 19-year-olds.
These grants were part of more than £200,000 of grants to projects decided on by Cllr Roy Perry, lead member for Children’s Services.
He also awarded more than £46,000 to organisations that work countywide with children such as Youth Options, which received £12,535 for post-adoption support, the Wessex Children’s Hospice, which received £5,000 to provide activities and support to children whose siblings have life-limiting illnesses, and Southampton Rape Crisis and Sexual Abuse Counselling Services, which helps provide a counselling programme for young people in Hampshire and received £14,206.
A further £5,934 went to Family Lives, to go towards a family support programme in the county.
