CHARITY has launched a hard-hitting campaign in Romsey to raise awareness of heart disease.

The town is one of 46 towns and cities designated as a Heart Town under a scheme by the British Heart Foundation. Now the charity is bringing its initiative, the Mending Broken Hearts Appeal to each of its heart towns.

In June last year, Romsey became one of the first places in Hampshire to be recognised as a Heart Town, a move backed by health chiefs from Test Valley Borough Council and Romsey Town Council.

The BHF said more than 8,400 people in Romsey are currently living with heart failure.
