DETECTIVES are appealing for witnesses after a gun was pulled out during an argument between two people on a Southampton street.

Police were called to Kingsdown Way in Townhill Park yesterday afternoon after reports a firearm had been seen.

A force spokeswoman said it is believed there was a row between two people, between 2pm and 3pm, during which one of them produced a gun.

Investigating officer, Detective Constable Esra Phillipson-Masters said today: “We would like to reassure the public that this is an unusual and isolated incident.

“We treat all such incidents extremely seriously, but thankfully they are rare in the city.

“We would like to hear from you if you saw anything suspicious in the Kingsdown Way area of the city yesterday.”

The appeal comes after an 18-year-old local man was arrested in connection with the incident.
