Hampshire buildings in Solent Design Awards finals

Southampton's SeaCity museum
A PUBLIC vote has opened to find the best designed building in the Solent area.
A special needs school in Totton, the SeaCity museum and part of the QE2 Mile in Southampton, as well as Winchester High Street are among the seven finalists.
The Solent Design Awards seeks to recognise the stunning buildings, places or spaces across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight which inspire the community in a recession.
An expert judging panel of top architects and academics will select the winners in a number of categories alongside a “people’s poll” award, which runs until the end of the month.
Paul Grover, of the University of Ports-mouth, who is managing the awards, said: “We hope for a good response to the poll. The public’s view is as important as the professionals’ as they are the people who have to live with the design and can really attest to its true value.”
The second biennial awards, sponsored by construction group Bouygues UK, the Barker Mills Foundation, the Partnership for Urban South Hampshire (PUSH) and the University of Portsmouth, will be presented at a special dinner in Portsmouth Guildhall on November 13.

But hope people will be voting on objective basis rather than all the Tories supporting this eye sore attached to Civic Centre and others opposing it only because it was built by the Tories.
As my own views are biased I will not be voting at all.

Visitors to Southampton have found it to be an excellent design and an interesting exhibition of Seafaring history - they didn't have a clue about the politics of Southampton!
If people want to vote for Hannidies Horror House I respect their right to do so.

Southampton needs a lot more for the tourists because the people of Southampton are apathetic in their support of what is on their doorstep. Southampton is not exactly known for its culture!

Lets hope the judging does not involve Cllr Hannides after his farce with the Spitfire monument and its "parachuted in" winner !!
But considering now your NuLabourites are in charge, have they reversed Tory decision on Spitfire which many think was questionable?
Or will Dear Leader led NuLabour Group continue with Tory decision on this issue just as they are continuing with cuts in jobs and services?
