A HOLIDAY company rep from Southampton remained in a coma last night after falling from a balcony at one of Europe’s most popular holiday resorts.
Lian Connis, 31, continues to be treated at Hospital Insular in Gran Canaria following the horror fall on Sunday night.
The incident left him with severe head injuries, a fractured pelvis, a broken leg and a punctured lung.
But Lian’s distraught family, who jetted out to Gran Canaria from their home in Harefield yesterday morning, last night confirmed that he was showing signs of recovery with the swelling on his head going down.
Lian’s sister, Lauren, told the Daily Echo her brother remained in a “shocking state”, but comments from hospital staff had been “positive”.
Doctors are hoping to operate on Lian on Monday if his condition continues to improve.
Lian, who works as a holiday rep for Thomas Cook, has been based in Puerto Rico, in the southwest of the island, since being posted there March.
As reported by the Daily Echo yesterday, it is believed he fell after climbing up to the balcony of his apartment, when he lost his keys.
