ARMED robbers have stolen around £400 in a frightening raid on a Hampshire bookies.

Two men, one of whom is thought to have been carrying a knife, burst into the Ladbrokes shop in Forton Road, Gosport, shortly after 8pm yesterday.

The raiders demanded staff hand over money, and workers handed over a cash tin and some money from the till, totalling around £400.

The two suspects left the shop together and were seen cycling off towards Brougham Street and onto the cycle track alongside Ann’s Hill Road.

Police, who are not linking the robbery, in which no one was injured, to other crimes, are now appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

Sergeant Liam Davies said: “Were you in the area of Ladbrokes, Brougham Street and Ann’s Hill Road between 8pm and 8.45pm on Thursday?

“Did you see two men on bicycles or acting suspiciously? In what direction were they going? Has someone you know suddenly been in possession of a large quantity of cash?”

Anyone with information about the identity of suspects should call Fareham Police Station on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
