GAS works in Fareham are running ahead of schedule.
The first phase of the £44,000 project, which saw the metal gas main in the junction of Kiln Road and the Mallards replaced with a plastic pipe, has been completed a week early.
Workers will now start on the area along Kiln Road, between The Mallards and Park Lane and temporary four-way traffic lights will be used.
There will then be two-way traffic lights in the area up until Monday, November 12.
Southern Gas Networks construction manager Paul Willis said: “I would like to thank everyone for their patience. We understand that people can get frustrated by road works; however, the new plastic pipe has a minimum lifespan of 80 years.
“This means that once we complete this essential work, the local area will continue to enjoy the benefits of a safe and reliable gas supply for years to come.”
