Has killer confided in friend or family?
Murder victim Georgina Edmonds.
Murder victim Georgina Edmonds.

DETECTIVES have received fresh calls from the public following the revelation that Hamp-shire grandmother Georgina Edmonds was tortured before she was killed.

Ten people have telephoned police offering information following the release of horrific details of Mrs Edmonds's death.

Mrs Edmonds, 77, suffered multiple stab wounds across the top of her body which are thought to have been inflicted with a kitchen knife.

The inquiry, called Operation Columbian, has now entered its third month and still the killer remains at large.

Police believe whoever is responsible lives locally and is likely to have confessed their crime to someone close to them.

The special incident room at the major crime department took the new calls within 24 hours of the news being reported in the Daily Echo.

Bludgeoned Mrs Edmonds was found bludgeoned to death in the kitchen of her cottage in Brambridge, near Eastleigh, on January 11.

She had been hit repeatedly over the head and suffered puncture wounds to her body which officers believe were caused by the killer as he tried to get her to disclose her PIN for her cashcard.

Detective Chief Inspector Paul Barton said: "We continue to be pleased with the response from the public and we received around ten calls following the publicity.

"We believe that the person responsible for Mrs Edmonds's death may have confessed to someone and we would urge anyone who has any information to contact the police."

Anyone with information should contact the Operation Columbian team on 0845 045 4545 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Alternatively information can be sent to Freepost, Operation Columbian.

Why does it take the 'horrific' details to be reported before people decide to help?

I hope they find this evil person and FAST!

If anyone's hiding them, they're just as guilty as committing the crime themselves!

The poor family of this elderly lady must be in so much pain at the moment. Please someone, give the Police ANYTHING to catch this person!
