Chandler's Ford shooting: Dramatic picture

The moment the raid started The moment the raid started

This is the dramatic moment when an armed robber brought terror to a leafy Hampshire village.

Masked Mark Nunes points a hand gun directly at a terrified security guard during an armed raid in Chandler's Ford.

Seconds later Nunes and an accomplice were were shot dead by police marksmen who had lay in wait for the gang at the HSBC.

Today four other members of the gang were found guilty of a gang whose crime spree netted them £500,000 in raids across the south.

You beat me to it. She will be after my vote soon and her behaviour after the shooting cost her that vote.

Sandra Gidley is the touchy feely - sorry liberal democrat MP for Romsey who immediately after the robbery castigated the police and called for (yawn) a public enquiry. There was no congratulation of an operation superbly handled, no thanks that they may have saved lives. Fair enough you think, but this would have suspended all the coppers who saved the guard's lives, taking them away from what they are paid to do, for months, even years - it may have disillusioned them to the point of leaving the force - wondering why to put your life on the line when the finger of suspicion is just turned back on you by a stupid knee jerk MP - it sends out the signal that the "human rights" of armed robbers are worth more than those of innocent bystanders, guards and coppers.... And it's not her only idiotic gaffe - I think Romsey folk with long memories will have something to say to her at the next election.

Andy.
You are right in the above, and in particular about Sandra Gidley.
It seems that she concentrates on her own self publicity, and is renowned for getting her picture into the local newspapers at any opportunity. It is rumoured that she will even attend the opening of an envelope.
That is what she will be remembered for, as nobody I speak, actually know of anything else she has done.

An open and shut case.
If you point a gun at somebody, you accept the risk of being shot by a Police marksman. End of story. No arguments.

Why has the taxpayer got to spend hundreds of thousands, if not millions investigating these situations ?
