A 17-year-old girl has told a court of the moments that led up to and followed the stabbing of Hampshire teenager Dele Little.

The girl, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, said Aaron Roche had gone to the West Totton Centre after she told him that his girlfriend had been "hurt" during an incident involving a group of youths.

Roche, 21, of Ringwood Road, Lyndhurst, is accused of stabbing 15-year-old Dele to death in February this year.

He denies a charge of murder.

The girl told the court yesterday she had gone to the area with 18-year-old Kayleigh Shinn, who she had spent the afternoon drinking with at The Ship pub in Rumbridge Street, Totton, to buy cigarettes from Tesco Express.

As they walked out of the store the girl told Winchester Crown Court how they were verbally abused, sworn at and called "goths".

Miss Shinn was then knocked to the ground before she got herself up, clutching a stick which she was waving at the boys. The girl said she watched as Miss Shinn was "chucked on the floor again with a lot more force" by Dele Little adding "she looked like a frisbee going through the air".

Roche arrived and shortly after the girl's boyfriend started to walk her away, but she told the court how she was refusing to go home until she knew Miss Shinn was OK. A short distance away they could see commotion and they both started to run towards the incident.

She told jurors; "There was lots and lots of shouting. There were arms everywhere in the distance.

"Aaron was just in a ball by a car absolutely covered in blood. I didn't even recognise his face. His t-shirt had been ripped from his back, it was just hanging off him.

"He just got up and ran. Kayleigh was on the bonnet of a car just leaning over, she was absolutely hysterical, she was crying, she was screaming, she was just going mad. She said she had to find Aaron and she started running as well. I think I heard somebody say 'he's been stabbed' or 'he's stabbed him'. I was very very shocked, I just started running after Kayleigh."

The girl returned to the house where Roche was later arrested but told the court she did not see him because she locked herself in the bathroom.

Cross examined by defence barrister Tim Mousely the girl said she did not hear Roche make any threats to kill and agreed that Dele was "the ringleader" on the night.

The trial continues.
