THE man accused of murdering a Hampshire teenager owned a small collection of knives, a court heard.

Winchester Crown Court was told how Aaron Roche possessed two Swiss Army knives, a hunting knife bought for him by his father and a French-style locking knife.

Roche had owned the knife used to stab Dele Little, 15, of Totton, for about six months. It was an "acrobatic" butterfly knife which he had got from the internet.

The court heard Roche's parents were antique dealers and he had always been interested in samurai swords.

Asked in interviews when he used the knife, he said it kept him "entertained" while his girlfriend Kayleigh Shinn did her homework.

Roche repeatedly told detectives how he thought he was "going to die" as he was beaten up by Dele.

In a series of police interviews Aaron Roche said he had pulled a knife from his back pocket to try and warn off Dele Little, 15, and get him to stop raining blows on him as they squared up at the West Totton Centre.

In the transcripts of the interviews, read out at the court, the 21-year-old said he was "shaking like mad" and couldn't remember stabbing anyone during the fracas outside a dentist and doctors surgery in Totton.

"The only reason I got the knife out in the first place was to say 'stop, leave me alone'. I thought I was going to end up dead," he said.

Roche, formerly of Ringwood Road, Lyndhurst, denies murder.
