Red Arrows display hangs in the balance

Red Arrows display hangs in the balance Red Arrows display hangs in the balance

PLANS for a spectacular fly past by the Red Arrows hang in the balance this afternoon amid dismal weather conditions.

The iconic aircraft were due to roar across the skies over Southampton's Mayflower Park at around 6.20pm today bringing to a climax a showcase day of Jubilee celebrations in the city.

Diamond Jubilee - Earlier Stories

But with rain lashing down, organisers have said this afternoon that a decision will be made soon as to whether it gets the go ahead.

The Red Arrows are scheduled to power in to view and perform one of their famous displays above Cunard's Queen Mary 2, Queen Elizabeth and Queen Victoria which all docked in the city at dawn.

Earlier this afternoon the Red Arrows were also involved in a spectacular flypast over Buckingham Palace to celebrate the Diamond Jubileee.

Having watched the fly past at Buckingham Palace on the news, I hope this goes ahead, it looked superb! Come on rain, give over and let this superb display go ahead.

I do hope it goes ahead. Does anyone know if they'll be readying at the airport before hand?

Well it was raining in London just now when they flew over Buckingham Palace. I'll be so disappointed if it doesn't go ahead, but obviously safety first.

They need a higher cloud base for a full display, than they need for a simple fly past. Sadly, looking at the forecast for the next two hours, it will not go ahead.

Please please let the red arrows at least fly past even if the don,t do their display, this is a once in a lifetime thing to happen and it would be an amazing way to end the Jubilee celebrations x

Thanks for that Saint. I'm suprised they don't use the airport or Odiham for that matter as they're close by.

This news item is not reported anywhere else on the Web. I bet an Echo journo went outside for a fag and thought that the weather was a bit to bad for the Arrows to fly. I have seen them display in weather like this before. They have a full display for good weather and a low display for the cloudier days.

I'm not bothered if the Red Arrows do their display or not. It was disgusting letting those ships make all that noise at half 5 this morning, waking us all up. I notice none of the 'official' reports or social media sites feature any negative feedback about this. But it was WRONG and showed a lot of arrogance on the part of those ships.

Are the kids old enough to be told what a good thing it was really and why? Deaf people would have loved the ability to enjoy the melodic sound of magnificent ships. It only annoys you because you let it.

No it isn't the popularity of the Royal Family is as strong if not stronger than it has ever been, have you not been watching what has been going on in London the past few days or are you upside down in a bucket of sand with your fingers in your ears? and no she doesn't get a penny of it herself, do you really believe the dross that you are trotting out?
