OPPONENTS of the fluoridation of Southampton’s water were yesterday giving residents another chance to meet and hear their concerns about the scheme.
Campaigners fighting the plans have gained more than 5,000 signatures on a petition they want to deliver to the Prime Minister, calling for a halt to the project.
Fluoride is set to be added to the tap water of almost 200,000 Hampshire residents after South Central Strategic Health Authority approved it as a method to improve children’s teeth.
Following a successful session earlier this month in the Polygon area of Southampton, Hampshire Against Fluoridation is holding another public meeting today in Woolston.
Residents will have the chance to meet campaigners and discuss why they are opposed to the levels of fluoride in the water being topped up.
MPs, prospective parliamentary candidates, and local councillors have all been invited to the meeting.
Visitors will also be given the opportunity to sign the petition and donate to a fighting fund set up to help a potential legal challenge to the SHA’s decision.
