SINGING, dancing, comedy and good old fashioned, fun filled entertainment is on at the Swan Theatre, as the Friends of the Swan proudly present their annual Variety Show to help raise funds to keep the theatre open for business.

Introduced by Master Of Ceremonies Peter Baio, top of the bill is local legend Barry North. Barry is a Worcester lad, born and bred in Park Avenue off Ombersley Rd. He was a member of St. Johns Players from 1970 until 1988 before he ‘emigrated’ to Blackpool to manage the Palace Theatre on Blackpool Sea front for a number of years.

Barry has developed his own inimitable style of comedy, and has become a firm favourite with Worcester audiences, appearing regularly with Midland Musical Theatre Group, as well as carrying out semi-professional work as an actor, singer, toastmaster and after-dinner speaker.

He appeared in last year’s Variety Show and is delighted to be back again this year with a host of new characters to tickle and tantalise those comedy taste buds!

Other entertainment comes in the form of the Dean Eirean McMahon Irish Dancers, Academy Dance School, comedy sketches and the vibrant Ensemble Singers. Listen out for favourite classics including Diamonds are a Girls Best Friend, Luck be a Lady Tonight and Fly Me to the Moon, guaranteed to get toes tapping!

A Variety Show takes place on Friday and Saturday, September 16 and 17, at 7.15pm with a Saturday matinee at 2.30pm.

Tickets are £8 and children £5 (matinee only) and are available from the box office on 01905 611427 or theswantheatre.co.uk.
