THE HUNT is on for a hit-and-run driver following the death of a teenager who was walking along a road near Odiham.

The collision took place during heavy rain on the A287 between Crondall and the Broad Oak roundabout near Odiham, between 2.30am and 3.30am this morning.

A 19-year-old man was found with serious injuries in the road by a passer-by, but later died. It is believed he was struck by a car that continued towards Odiham.

Sergeant Darren Ord, from the Road Death Investigation Team, said: “At this stage we are looking for a car that was involved in this incident.

“It is likely that this vehicle sustained damage to the front of the vehicle, headlight and windscreen/windows.

“We are also interested to hear from anybody who saw a pedestrian on this road between the hours of 2.30 and 3.30 this morning.”

Officers have closed the road to investigate the death.

A post-mortem will take place tomorrow to establish the exact cause of the man's death.
