Southampton and South West Hampshire Trade Union Council (TUC) have called an emergency meeting to discuss a campaign to save the Ford factory.
The meeting will take place at Goblets Wine Bar in Commercial Road, Southampton on October 31 at 7.30pm.
The TUC is asking workers at the Ford plant to come along and discuss what action can be taken to save the factory.
Members will be distributing leaflets to workers outside the factory today.
President of the TUC in Southampton Bobby Noyes said the closure was a disaster for the city.
She said: “We should get together with people who want to see something happen. Closing the Ford factory is really drastic so we have to respond and do what we can. We think this is going to be a devastating blow to Southampton.”
Ms Noyes explained that the action that could be taken depends on what the Ford workers want to do.
She added: “If they want to take the closure to Parliament we will facilitate that.”
