John Trinder, from Calmore, submitted three traditional designs featuring the Hampshire rose and the world famous St George's Cross. The 68-year-old said: "I think the key is to keep it simple. You have got to imagine it when its up on a flag pole and people will be able to look up and instantly recognise it. When I think of Hampshire I think of the rose and on top of the St George's Cross, well what better flag could you have?"
