Kohli should spend rest of life behind bars

The killer of Southampton student Hannah Foster should never be freed from prison,her parents claimed last night
The 41-year-old was yeaterday jailed for a minimum of 24 years for the murder of 17-year-old Hannah and today spends the first full day of that sentence behind bars.
But Hannah's parents Hannah and Hilary say that's not enough and believe Kohli should spend the rest of his life locked up.
Speaking after the six week trial at Winchester Crown Court Trevor said: “We have done everything we can in pursuit of justice for Hannah.
"However, we can not accept and never will be able to accept, how a complete stranger can abduct, rape and murder your teenager daughter, still a child in the eyes of the law, and yet not end his days in prison.

“Kohli will in all probability walk out of jail after serving his recommended minimum sentence and resume his life in the outside world. This man callously deprived Hannah of her primary human right, the right to life.
“This sentence gives him the right to a second chance at life, a second chance he never gave Hannah. To see Kohli’s life valued in this way when he showed such utter disregard for Hannah’s is hurtful beyond measure. The punishment should fit the crime. In this case it certainly did not.”

Some would say you can't put a price on justice, but we have to.
At some point we must accept that the system is broken and needs a radical overhaul.

I believe in a life sentence being just that, but sadly it never is.
Much as I would like to see Kholi serve the 24 years(in absence of full life) I fear he will not.
Once the Human rights and appeals process etc gets going, I think he will have his sentence reduced.
Sad, but quite often happens.

I intend using the freedom of information act to try and find out how much this trial has actually cost.
There needs to be a root and branch reform of the criminal justice system to avoid repeating the kind of nonsense we have seen in this case.
What could be a more fitting legacy to Hannah Foster than to see money saved by this in future diverted to worthy hospital or school projects?

After lots of hard work by Hampshire Police, Indian Authorities, many members of the public and media (especially Echo) the right judgement has been delivered. But sadly courts can only deliver judgements, not justice.
Hannah went to college with the daughter of my friend. She was committed to study medicine and save lives. Sadly the evil animal Kohli robbed her of her own in most brutal manner. On top of that he tried not only to avoid arrest, he in fact went on ruthlessly lying and kept on prolonging the agony of Foster family. Everything this monster has done is disgraceful uncivilised behaviour.
Real justice would have been to put Kohli in a cage located somewhere in the city centre so that all the yobs could throw abuse and urinate at him for the rest of his life. Alternatively try reaching an agreement with Indian authorities to lock him in one of their prisons, because ours are two star hotels operating under the brand name of HMP.

To Hannahs family: I have been so impressed by the way you have dealt with this. As the mother of a daughter myself I don't know that I could have found the dignity that you have all held throughout. May she now rest in peace knowing that justice has been done, albeit a watered down version and I hope that you may now move on with your lives with the wonderful memories you have of your daughter and sister.

personal my self,i would give 10 years to prove his innocence and any appeals then after 10 years hang him, just think 10 years of thinking and sweating knowing after 10 years the rope be there for him.10 years of torcher of the brain

I'm sure I read 1 yr 303 days but he only arrived in UK in July last year, and had been in Indian custody since 2004 so I don't understand how that's being calculated. Certainly the Ds in charge of the investigation said something to the effect that Kohli would be considered for parole in 22 years which seems to agree with that figure.

He also spent a considerable time in custody over here prior to his trial.
Im sure hes already spent at least 3yrs of his sentance already if not more.

Our liberal leaders got rid of capital punishment back in the 60s and buried under European legislation too.
I pray that this creature's cell door is 'accidentally' left unlocked and eyes turned away.
I bet the scum will probably do a Dr Shipman or a Fred West thus saving a few million quid?
This local case has sent shockwaves around the world and I have avoided reading the court reports - it makes the skin crawl.
It humbles us all when looking how the family coped and made their incredible efforts to track the monster down. Great work on the Indian side too
