A TEENAGER accused of murder has told how he made eye contact with Lewis Singleton as the teenager lay slumped on the ground following a brutal stabbing.
Sercan Calik described the moment he drove past the 18-yearold and saw him "running out of breath" on the pavement after he had fled from the scene of a fight.
Calik, 19, told jurors at Winchester Crown Court: "When I drove there, I stopped the car and could see Lewis Singleton on the floor.
"He made eye contact with me - he lifted his head up and it looked like he was running out of breath.
There was no blood."
When asked if he knew Lewis had been stabbed he responded: "Do you think I am going to leave somebody there lying on the floor?"
Calik is one of four teenagers accused of murdering Lewis Singleton in Obelisk Road on March 31 last year.
Earlier Calik told Lewis Singleton's parents that he "did not lay a hand" on their son and that he had "no involvement" in the teenager's death.
He also told Winchester Crown Court that he never owned the 10cm flick knife used during the fatal brawl, claiming instead that it belonged to his co-accused Rikki Johnson.
Calik said: "I didn't have any part (in his killing) and, I say it to his family, I didn't touch Lewis Singleton. I didn't lay a finger on him. I didn't pass the knife and I didn't see anything that happened."
Calik, 19, of Burgess Road, Johnson, 19, of Honeysuckle Road, Bassett, and two youths aged 16 and 17 all deny murder and a second charge of violent disorder.
A fifth member of the gang was never charged.
