A WIDOWER has spoken of his late wife's pain a day before she died at Winchester's Royal County Hospital.

John Kimmance was giving evidence on day four of the inquest into the death of his wife Amy.

The 39-year-old died after developing complications from a Group A streptococcal infection, two days after giving birth to her third child on December 21 2007.

Mr Kimmance said his wife's pain first began after she breastfed her baby daughter at around 5am on December 22.

He said: "She described it as a contracting pain and the both of us presumed it was an after labour pain linked to the breastfeeding."

The inquest heard Mrs Kimmance had been identified as being a likely sufferer of post birth pain - she had endured similar problems after the delivery of her second child.

Speaking of his wife's previous pain, Mr Kimmance added: "They were quite severe but nothing like the ones she had on that morning for the third child."

The inquest at Hampshire County Council chamber is set conclude tomorrow.
