SNOW has brought more travel disruption across Hampshire today.

Between two and five centimetres of snow were expected to have fallen in parts of the county, with temperatures below freezing.

Gritters were out in force salting the main road network and emergency services warned motorists to drive with care.

The runway at Southampton Airport has now re-opened after being closed this morning to clear overnight snowfall. Cancellations and knock-on delays are expected as a result of the closure. Passengers are advised to check with their airlines for the latest flight information.

The snow is expected to turn to rain for the rest of the day with temperatures rarely getting above freezing.

I drove from Stubbington to Selsey (30 miles) this morning, a tricky but manageable drive.
How many punters out there will think snow = a day off work?

Im fuming mad, they've closed boys school but snow has melted here on pavements and roads already! it's an overreaction this time, nowhere near the amount of snow we had last time. I'm in the West of the City, what's it like everywhere else?

shaddup BS, don't rub it in lol... my friend is in Melbourne and she worked 15 hours in that heat, she wasn't amused! we can't win can we, one extreme to another!

Snow melted here on roads, bit of slush but all passable, Mountbatten Way is fine!

I live centrally in Soton and the snow is melting very fast; roads fine but pavements not so good. Driven into work via the Avenue and that was fine; Chandlers Ford is covered in it, i think a good few inches have fallen, and its VERY slippery everywhere. Some of my colleagues have made it in from Hedge End/Botley way but have said its even worse there. So seems same as last week in terms of worst hit areas. Take care everyone.

The reason why schools are closing today isn't just about safety and the snow/ice. It's all about government ratings. If they open and 3/4 of the school turn up then it goes against them in their next ofsted review but if they close the school then their credability is saved. It's no longer about giving our children education it's about politics/money/stati
sitics and reputation with ofsted.

I live in Poole and we have no snow now, if possible, even less snow than last week! I am very happy! Somehow that blanket of it went right over us yesterday but dropped onto a light shower of rain... I Feel sorry for everyone else in the country though getting the worst of it :(

And unless I haven't seen it reported, the University of Southampton is open today even though it closed on Monday when the pathways on their grounds were mildly damp.

Interesting attempt at de-icing the car in the picture! Do they think that clearing a tiny patch in front of the driver is sufficient?

Drivers like this need to wake up before they kill someone they didnt see through the snow covered windows
