FORMER Saints star Jason Dodd has thrown his weight behind a campaign to support troops on the frontline.
The former club captain urged everyone to go out and buy a wristband to raise vital funds for a Daily Echo-backed campaign to help Hampshire soldiers who are serving in Afghanistan.
It comes as special wristbands made for the 1st Battalion Princess of Wales’ Royal Regiment – nicknamed The Tigers – are being snapped up by people eager to show their support for the boys as they embark on a seven-month tour.
The blue and yellow wristbands cost £2 each and are raising money to support families whose loved ones may suffer injury during the next few months.
The regiment is aiming to raise £60,000 and has already seen thousands of pounds rolling in.
Jason Dodd, said: “We want each and every one of those lads to come back – that is the bottom line.
“Supporting this campaign is a safety net for these soldiers, it will make a huge difference for them out there knowing their wives, girlfriends and children would be looked after if the worst happens. It really is important that people show their support.”
É You can buy your wristband from the Echo office in Hanover Buildings in Southampton. All money raised will be passed to welfare chiefs from 1PWRR.
