FREE mini-health checks and a cycle challenge will take place in Southampton to boost fitness levels in the city.
Personal trainers from a new gym complex opening in Bitterne will offer hints and tips to shoppers on getting fit and healthy ready for the festive season. They say the average person is thought to gain 5lbs over Christmas and they hope to make Southampton stay healthy.
The fitness gurus, who will be in WestQuay shopping centre on Friday and Saturday, will also challenge shoppers to win prizes by testing their pedal power on a special spin bike for 30 seconds to see what distance they can record.
Each entrant will get a free backpack with the overall winner drawn from a hat of all entries receiving a free three month gym membership and personal training sessions.
The new 24-hour gym will open in Bitterne Road on November 19.
