Last Orders for Glass
The Daily Echo campaign, supported by the police, is to encourage late-night bars and clubs in Hampshire to switch from glass to plastic.
Student scarred in night club glassing attack
A UNIVERSITY student needed 26 stitches after being struck in the face with a glass at a Southampton nightclub.
James Lennox now fears his career in hotel management may be jeopardised after being left with a permanent scar.
The drama happened when he was dancing with his girlfriend at the Junk nightclub in London Road.
Prosecutor Sarah Dineley said he accidentally bumped into another woman, the girlfriend of teenager Joseph Jennings, and turned to apologise.
The two men then exchanged words before the student heard the glass breaking.
At Southampton General Hospital, he had 24 stitches inserted for a deep, five centimetre wound and two stitches for a smaller cut.
Mr Lennox told police in an impact statement how he had been an outgoing friendly person before the attack, which had put him back a month in his studies in his final year and he had since lost confidence in crowds.
Jennings, a 21-year-old apprentice gas fitter, of Archery Grove, Weston, admitted wounding and was jailed for 16 months.

Yep....but we dont have regular occurences of kids running into schools and shooting people either.
Ironic really that such a deeply christian nation loves their guns and death sentence when one of the 10 commandments clearly states 'Thou Shalt Not Kill'!
US = a nation of hypocrites!

most of our recent problems have been imported/copied from the land of the free and hypocrisy. gun crime, muggings, trick or treat etc etc all were virtually unknown over here a decade or 2 ago. As for Junk i've heard some sorry tales. Just hope the victim can move on from this.

Same old story. Simple solution = plastic glasses and no bottled booze allowed in the well known troublespots.
'Normal' pubs with 'nice' people can just carry on and not be penalised by the nutters who cause (and invite) trouble

What has been written in the paper today isn't how the event took place. So for Lennox who was glassed-give up the sob story. And tell the truth ey!
