Last Orders for Glass

The Daily Echo campaign, supported by the police, is to encourage late-night bars and clubs in Hampshire to switch from glass to plastic.

Victim Louise backs glassing campaign

IT HAS been 18 months since an unprovoked bottle attack left her scarred for life.

Louise Reeves needed 60 stitches in her face after the glassing at a Southampton nightclub which left her face cut from her eyelid to below her cheek.

A hairdresser by trade, in the early months after the attack she could not bear to see her face in the mirror and was forced to quit her job.

Now Louise, 21, has joined the Daily Echo's campaign to turn Southampton's late night venues glass-free to stop other potential victims suffering like she did.

It was on Boxing Day 2006 when the vicious assault took place as Louise enjoyed a night out with her then boyfriend and another friend.

She was at the bar at Diva buying a round of drinks when she felt the blow to her head as her attacker Samantha Attrill smashed a bottle on her head.

Speaking last year after Attrill was jailed at Winchester Crown Court having been found guilty of malicious wounding, Louise told the Echo: "I can remember just standing there holding my face and head because it was hurting so much. I can remember the pain. I looked down and I was totally covered in blood. My clothes were just red and people all around me were moving away and screaming.

"I was just standing there, thinking it was my head but then I touched my face and it was all bleeding. It was completely cut open from my left eyelid down beneath my cheek."

The former Regents Park schoolgirl had to attend numerous appointments with specialist surgeons as her injury began to heal. Now, with barely a trace of the horrific injuries and back at work, Louise said: "I think I am lucky in that my scar has healed so well. Looking back it could have been so much worse.

It's so easy for people to drink too much and turn nasty but I know what can happen in a split second.

"In a moment someone could be left blind or seriously disfigured - taking glass out of the bars would take away that risk.

"I would urge every bar and club to consider going glass free to stop other people going through what I have had to go through."

and yet samantha atrill only srved 11 months behind bars for what she did to this poor girl and is now back terrorising the people of southampton! charming why dont they start by actually punishing these animals that could do soething like that to another human being and it might put people off doing it in the first place!

(she was originally sentenced to four years)

anyone think i should get a job at the echo??

I'm guessing you're from Shirley Warren, hence how you know so much about this particular incident, am I guessing right? Nasty bunch the lot of them!

I think that "Me" should get her facts straight. Sam Attrill is not back living in Southampton and this attack on poor Louise goes way back and there is a lot of history between families, boyfriends, ex-boyfriends etc. Sam Attrill was actually behind bars for more than 11 months and her senetence got reduced on Appeal. Louise is not all sweetness and light as she makes out. I'm not saying that she deserved the attack but her bfriend has done far worse nasty crimes than glassing someone in the face. Pot, kettle and black spring to mind as does what goes around comes around!

no i dont and never have lived in shirley warren i am in fact from lordshill and i think you will find that she was put away on remand from boxing day 2006 and released from prison at the beginning of december 2007 - if you cant work that out then you are clearly one of the nappyhead attrills! the whole family are bullying scumbags and samantha is the worst one of them all she is a spiteful bully who does not seserve to be free and if she is not in southampton then why did i see her having a screaming match with a woman at a bus stop in town about two weeks ago?

i know both parties involved and neither are innocent in all of this but louise is making out she is something shes not and it seems that whenever shes out in pubs she is the one causing trouble, and leaves her boyfriend to finish off whether it is male or female. and most of the time the "poor victim" is too out of her face to know whats happening around her.

For your information Me Sam was not released from prison until Feb 2008 - maybe its YOU that should get her facts straight and she was on Tag when she came out. You may well have seen her in Soton but she is not living back there - as I good mate of hers I know this. I agree with Anon with her comments about Louise. She said that she was too scared to go out when that is a lie as she ended up getting it on with someone else boyfriend and is now with him causing rows and off her face the whole time!! She is not at all the poor whiter than whote victim that she makes herself out to be!

I agree with me! Are you sure Sam and Louise are not related as they are as devious as each other. Louise did break up one of her best friend's realtionship by seeing her boyfriend behind her back

hahahahahahaha some people really havent got a life have they? especially the people from southampton! firstly Sams behaviour is not condoned (i hope the dumb assess reading this understands that word) but louise's behaviour is terrible. if she was an inncoent victim why would she trash somebody's flat, hold knives in their faces and bully their girlfriend? is that the image she is trying to portray in the papers?
it also seems like that some sad immature peoples (especially lordshill) need to get their facts right on release dates, where people are living and the actual argument!! Louise and her ex boyfriend have even hurt sams children so for your own sake dont gwt involved when you dont know anything about it. this is exactly the behaviour of southampton isint it - rumours and stirring which leads to stuff like this!
did anybody remember louise bottling a certain person in diva in 2005? oh no i didnt think they would as the 'model' aka junkie is a 'good person'. GET A LIFE.

I totally agree haha as i have witnessed the behaviour of louise and her friends in shirley. She is a bully who is clearly trying to cretae an image for herself but not keeping it up very well as the people that actually KNOW these people know the truth. i remember the bottling incident in 2005 which is what i though of straight away wheni heard about this - what goes around comes around. she just wants money and sympathy (although she did get a crap boob job!)innocent? good? terrified? not the words that would come to me when describing louise. 'me' needs to get facts right and the right attitude in life!
