Organ donors can save lives

IT IS never too late to become an organ donor regardless of your age and a group of Hampshire WI members is helping to spread that message by encouraging hundreds of people to join the register.

There are currently 2,195 over 60s awaiting a transplant n More than 700 over 60s died in the last four years awaiting a transplant n A total of 2440 over 60s successfully received transplants in the last four years n In the last four years 514 over 60s helped others live after their death through organ donation n At least 223 over 60s helped others live whilst still alive through organ donation n The oldest cornea donor was 103 and the oldest cornea recipient was 104.
