BOSSES at a Southampton service station will face licensing chiefs this week in a bid to sell alcohol 24 hours a day.

Platinum Retail Ltd will face licensing chiefs on Thursday to make their case to extend hours at the Manor Service Station.

The station in Bitterne Road West is currently able to sell alcohol from 8am to 11pm daily.

The owners say extra training will be given to staff and a Challenge 25 policy will be operated.

However, Hampshire Constabulary has objected to the proposals on the grounds of preventing crime and disorder, public nuisance and to protect children from harm.

Three residents living near the service station have also objected, saying it will lead to an increase in noise and antisocial behaviour.

The firm’s application had been due to be heard on March 5 but is now due to be heard by the city council’s licensing and gambling subcommittee at the Civic Centre on Thursday.
