HUNDREDS of people are expected to take the fight to cancer out on to the streets of Hampshire this weekend.
Southampton is one of 15 cities chosen to simultaneously host the March On Cancer.
It will see more than 500 people gather at Guildhall Square before a procession through the city centre to the Bargate and the Old Town before returning to Guildhall Square.
The event is part of the Stand Up To Cancer campaign by Cancer Research UK.
Representing all the cancer survivors in Hampshire at the march will be Alan Baxter from Alresford.
The 69-year-old survived bowel cancer after being diagnosed with the condition in August last year.
But after surgery and chemotherapy he hopes his treatment is complete.
He will be joined by his wife Jean, 74, and daughter Jo.
To ensure the march runs smoothly there will be a series of road closures in the city centre from 5pm to 11pm, including Above Bar Street, West Marlands Road and Commercial Road.
March on Cancer starts at 7.30pm at Southampton Guildhall. Entry is £5.
