A YOUNG Saints fan with a serious heart condition was delighted to see his heroes record a vital win after getting free tickets from the club.
Callum Hart, 12, was elated after goals from James Ward-Prowse and Graziano Pellè gave Southampton a 2-0 win over Hull at St Mary’s on Saturday.
The youngster was born with hypoplastic right heart syndrome, a defect which affects development of the valves and vessels in the heart.
Speaking to the Daily Echo before the game, Callum said: “I’m excited and I think Saints will win 2-1.”
He and his family are involved with Over the Wall, a charity which provides free therapeutic recreation camps for children with illnesses.
His condition can leave him out of breath and blue in the face after exercise and his dad Chris said that mixing with other families has helped.
Mr Hart said: “It’s nice to meet kids who have got the same disabilities and for myself and my wife to speak to the other families.
“He’s often trying to run around playing football but he needs to learn how to control it.
“The support we have had has been great.”
Callum did some support of his own and helped cheer Saints on to an important victory over Hull City, which lifted them to fifth in the Premier League table.
