HUNDREDS of people have been painting the streets of Hampshire for charity.

There was an explosion of colour at Brockenhurst College as students, teachers and families helped to raise more than £10,000 for a hospice.

The college hosted a five kilometre colour run to support the Oakhaven Hospice with paint dust showering runners as they attempted to complete the circuit.

Principal, Di Roberts said: “We're very proud of the college's full involvement in community events and this one was particularly special, raising funds for such an important local charity. Brock is always a colourful place but this event took it to another level.”

Mike Denny from Oakhaven added: “It was a sensational day, everyone entered into the spirit of the event. It was so much fun and great to see the young and not so young really throwing themselves into it.”

All the money raised will go toward supporting people with life-threatening illnesses from the Oakhaven centre in Lymington.

Runner Clare Green said: “My daughter Katie has cerebral palsy and has never walked this sort of distance before so we were slightly worried she wouldn't make it round the course.

“She was so determined to run some of the way and managed to complete the entire race. This is such an amazing achievement for her and we're even more proud that she raised more than £200.”
