IT WAS the purple patch that kept on giving.

In the summer Michael and Melanie Hayward turned a piece of bare land into a beautiful flower garden at their New Forest Lavender Farm in Landford.

Originally planned to open for two months, the mild weather has meant it has remained open for four months delighting the crowds who visited it.

A collection box raised £6,525.64 to be shared equally between the Parkinson’s Disease Society and the Lavender Trust (a breast cancer charity).

Cheques were presented to representatives from both charities at the farm’s tearooms.

Michael and Melanie thanked everyone who donated to the garden collection.
