HE HAD the whole of his life to look forward to.

Mark Williams was planning his dream wedding and was overjoyed at hearing his fiancée was pregnant with another child.

But now his bride-to-be has been left devastated after he collapsed and died suddenly at their Southampton home.

Today an entire city estate is in mourning for the popular family man, with hundreds contributing to a charity appeal set up in his memory which has already raised thousands of pounds for his loved ones.

His fiancee Kirsty Went fought back tears as she told of the desperate moment she desperately tried to revive Mark after he collapsed in the hallway of their Millbrook flat.

The incident happened at 9pm on Friday, shortly after Mark had returned from locking the front door for the night.

Paramedics rushed to their Chiltern Green home to try to revive him after Kirsty called had rung 999 while giving CPR.

The 27-year-old was taken to Southampton General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Kirsty, also 27, told the Daily Echo: “He was my rock. You don’t expect it from someone so young. It’s so tragic, no one can make any sense of it. It’s left a gaping hole in our lives.”

She paid tribute to him as a family man who adored son Max, three, and Kirsty’s son Leo, eight, who is from a previous relationship.

The couple began dating five years ago before Mark proposed to her in 2014. while just days before his death she announced she was pregnant again.

The pair first met as youngsters at Newlands Primary School, but he went on to Redbridge Community School and she to Millbrook School.

She said: “We had everything planned. We were going to get married and get a house together.

“We’ve already picked names for the baby and bought a crib. He really wanted the baby to be a girl.

“He was the other half of me. If I was cold he would warm me up. If one of us was down we would help the other out. We were a perfect match. You could rely on him for anything.

“This is the kind of thing you see on television but you don’t think it’s going to happen to you.

“How can I explain to a three-year-old that his dad’s gone?”

A post-mortem has yet to be carried out but Kirsty said Mark had been suffering from chest pains on the evening before he died.

Despite that, he felt well enough to go to work at Costco in Regents Park Road, where he worked on the shop floor and helped with deliveries.

Kirsty said he had no previous health complaints and added: “He was fit and healthy, never ill and never even caught a cold.”

Friends gathered in the Bricklayers Arms in Wimpson Lane, where tributes were made to the Saints fan who was also a regular in the Saints Pub.

Close friends set up a Go Fund internet page following his death to raise £1,000 for his family – the amount raised had reached more than doubled to over £2,000 within 24 hours.

Donations to the family can be made at the fundraising page at www.gofundme.com/williemuff.

Friends also collected £300 at the Bricklayers towards funeral costs.

Mark’s older sister Natalie Lemon, 33, from Maybush, said: “It’s so heartbreaking. He was an amazing person who was a great father, partner and uncle. No one would have a bad word to say about him.”

Kirsty’s mum Kathy Iason, 47, from nearby Pennine Road, added: “It’s so tragic. He loved being with the boys.

“But we are just so overwhelmed by the support we’ve had. I knew he was popular and well loved but it has been phenomenal. We want to say that if anyone has chest pains they should seek help. If we knew then what we know now this may not have happened.”

A spokesman for South Central Ambulance (SCAS) said one of their crews had been called the flat at 9.03pm on Friday for a “medical emergency”.
