A CHARITY is bidding to recruit 5,000 power walkers and raise at least £500,000 in the battle against breast cancer.
The Daily Echo-backed Celebrity SunWalk is being staged in Southampton to celebrate the naming of the cruise ship Celebrity Eclipse, which will be based in the port.
Everyone entering either the 5k or 10k challenge could win a place on a two-day voyage to mark the start of the ship’s cruising career.
The event is being organised by the charity WalktheWalk, whose founder, Nina Barough, is godmother to the ship Celebrity Equinox.
Nina said: “We’re determined to recruit 5,000 walkers. If everyone raises £100, which is quite feasible, we’ll end up with £500,000.”
