AN appeal on national radio read by actress Julie Walters, pictured, has raised nearly £1,000 for a Hampshire charity.
Brainstrust says its five minutes on BBC Radio 4 this month has also seen many more people enquire about the charity.
Former King’s Somborne resident Helen Bulbeck set up the charity after her daughter Meg was diagnosed with a brain tumour.
Although Meg had the tumour successfully removed, Brainstrust has gone on to help hundreds of others with similar conditions.
Mrs Bulbeck said: “As a medical charity appealing during a time of economic uncertainty and at a time when there is a disaster of devastating scale taking place in Pakistan, we are very happy with the result.”
